About Us
Northeastern Child Care Services (NCCS) is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit multi-faceted agency serving families and businesses throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania.
NCCS began operations February 2, 1989, with five child care centers. NCCS was founded by Judith Graziano, who administered child care programs since 1968.
Today, Northeastern Child Care Services manages six Treasure House Child Development Centers located in Lackawanna, Susquehanna and Wayne counties. More than 400 children are currently enrolled at Treasure House Child Development Centers.
Treasure House is a child-centered program whose practices are rooted in sound child development theories.
The center follows teaching guidelines established by the National Association for the Education of Young Children and utilizes The Creative Curriculum for Infant through Pre-K Programs and The Emergent Curriculum for School Age Programs.
Fundamental to good teaching practices for young children is the knowledge that they are active learners who learn best through hands-on sensory experiences. At Treasure House, the staff prepares the environment so that materials are accessible to the children, allowing them to choose from an array of interesting possibilities. There is a balance of child initiated and teacher directed activities that foster development in all areas – social, emotional, physical and cognitive. By way of developmentally appropriate programming, Treasure House Child Development Centers hope to instill in children a confidence in their abilities along with enthusiasm for learning that will help prepare them for the world ahead.
Treasure House Child Development Centers are licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services (DHS), Office of Child Development and Early Learning (OCDEL) and participate if the Keystone STARS Quality Initiative Program.
Our Philosophy
Treasure House Child Development Centers are child centered environments that are responsive to the needs and interests of children from infancy through the early elementary years. Our program is committed to giving children the time to enjoy being a child – to play freely with the things and the people that interest them. Learning activities are planned to engage children’s natural curiosity about the world they live in. The staff is trained in child development theories that support children as individuals who are growing socially, emotionally, physically and intellectually. They help children gain confidence by structuring the environment to encourage the children to become involved in a variety of experiences that bolster their self esteem. Our belief is that when a child feels good about himself through his own accomplishments and the understanding and guidance of those around him, he will develop into a competent, secure individual.
Center staff is trained to respect the children and to treat them accordingly at all times. Age appropriate positive discipline techniques such as redirection and problem solving are employed.

What is Keystone Stars?
Keystone STARS (Standards, Training/Professional Development, Assistance, Resources, and Supports) is a quality rating system that promotes quality improvement in early learning and development programs and school-age child care. A Keystone STARS designation informs parents that their children are in a safe, respectful environment in which they are learning new things every day to support their current and future successes in school and in life.
